Oxidized Restored

Why not just buy a $12 kit?

Store kits skip the UV-blocking topcoat. Lenses look clear for a few weeks, then yellow faster than before because the sanded surface is now unprotected. We seal every restoration with a catalyzed clear coat rated for outdoor UV exposure.

Two-headlight restoration$79
Add UV ceramic topcoat (recommended)+$25
Heavy oxidation / pitted lens+$15–30

The process

  1. Inspect & Tape Off

We check for cracks or moisture inside the housing, then mask the surrounding paint and trim.

  2. Wet-Sand in Stages

400 to 3000-grit, working the oxidized layer off without going near the paint edge.

  3. Machine Polish

A compound buff brings back full optical clarity — not just a surface shine.

  4. UV Seal & Cure

A catalyzed clear coat goes on last, curing on-site so you're driving with it same day.

Cross-section: what oxidation does to a headlight lens, and what restoration changes Two side-by-side cross-sections of a headlight lens. On the left, an oxidized lens: the sun-degraded outer layer is pitted and yellowed, so the bulb's light scatters into a dim haze instead of a beam, cutting output by up to 80 percent. On the right, the same lens after restoration: the damaged layer has been wet-sanded off, machine-polished and sealed with a UV clear coat, so light passes straight through and leaves as a focused beam.
